Plot: Vertigo Empty
PostSubject: Plot: Vertigo   Plot: Vertigo EmptyTue Oct 06, 2009 11:23 am

It was an average school day and I was walking to my next class in a crowded hallway. As I walking past the library, I was hit with a bout of extreme vertigo, a sensation quite familiar to me having dealt with Meniere’s syndrome and its associated symptoms for several years, but dreaded as it could mean my symptoms were returning to the scale they had been on several years before. As my hearing was replaced by a helicopter-like ringing sound, I attempted to lower myself to the ground in a manner that would not look like I was seizing or something and freak people out, but was unsuccessful as it is quite difficult to move in a controlled manner when you are so dizzy you cannot tell which way is up or where any of your body parts are in relation to one another. I proceeded to lie down in the hallway against the wall, trying to look as normal as possible and failing miserably. As I lay on the floor, not a single person in my 3000+ person school stopped to ask if I, the person flat out on the hallway floor and clearly not okay, was okay. Eventually the dizziness began to recede and I was able to see well enough to locate someone I knew well enough to ask for assistance. They guided me down the stairs and I was prompted to lie down for a little in the nurses’ office. The dizzy spell eventually passed and I was able to return to class, both anxious that my symptoms might return and slightly perturbed that no one had thought to offer help to the person lying on the floor.

Oh my god! Well, I suppose the easiest change you could make is if someone had helped you? Maybe then you'd have made a new friend, and gone off on adventures together? Or, what if at the same time, there was a fire drill?

What if you realized everyone in your school was having the same problem at the same time?

What if someone had asked if you needed assistance, but they didn't know what was wrong or how to help? What if you couldn't speak, or articulate your needs to them?

What if you blacked out?

What if you hurt yourself and couldn't walk at all?

What if you discovered that you suddenly had superpowers?

What if school sessions were held in helicopters?

What if someone stepped on you? Or worse, kidnapped you?

What if this happened at Olin?

Did you have too much to drink...?

You wake up in a different place.

an amazing little scenario. what if no one would help you just as you write, but then the person you'd least expect to help you helped you?
